Jurassic Trek?

After the success and acclaim of Jurassic Time, many fans wanted yet another experience in the same engaging style. However, Hammond’s story was done. I had cobbled together every single line of dialogue he had in the game. What story was there left to tell? Well, there was one other character in the game that had a story: Anne, the woman marooned on Site B, left to fight for her life across an island full of dinosaurs.

Titled Jurassic Trek- The Anne Adventure, it was to be an old-time radio-style audio adventure using sound effects, music, and dialogue from the game. With no visuals at all, the listener was either reminded of the best moments from the game or taken through them for the first time in a way no one had ever experienced. It was also a way to present most of the wonderful dialogue of Anne, performed magnificently by Minnie Driver, in a way similar to what I had done for John Hammond in Jurassic Time. Some of the moments from the Hammond memoir would be seeded throughout to complete the story. In the end, it was to become a atmospheric yet fast-paced adventure to assault the ears.

But it was not to be.

Due to a loss of interest in the project and diminished energy, I decided not to continue. I had done some tests of what I was trying to accomplish and I simply was not satisfied with the results. It became unsatisfying and ultimately frustrating, and every time I would stop and start again, it didn’t get any better. With that I realized this project simply wasn’t for me.

However, in light of still wanting to have some kind of keepsake of Minnie Driver's performance, I have decided to make a brief, 12 minute vignette of it. It doesn't use any sound effects, just dialogue sometimes set to music like Jurassic Time. I call it Jurassic Trek- The Anne Tribute, which can be downloaded by clicking the logo below.

Although there is at least some kind of tribute to the performance, many fans would still perhaps want more. That is why I am offering up my original design to the community of Trespasser fans. There are many talented fans out there that would probably have a lot of fun with this project and perhaps be more successful with it than I ever was going to be. I remember hearing a lot of interest in this kind of project even before I started it. However, I believe a lot of fans didn’t attempt it simply because they just didn’t know where to start. And for that, I believe, I have solved the problem.

I am presenting my 8 original scripts that include most of Anne’s dialogue from the game, with moments of Hammond’s seeded throughout. I put them all in a order that would tell the adventure story, with notes in-between the lines describing the sounds that should be heard and other things that are going on that are meant to be created using sounds from the game. The one thing it doesn’t describe are music tracks that I would use, however I was only intending on using music from the game composed by Bill Brown.

I really hope someone does find an interest in this project greater than I had and is able to accomplish it. I truly do like the way my scripts move the adventure along using as many of the Anne lines of dialogue that I could. Just please, if you do use my scripts, even partially, do credit me. I would love more than anything to see a successful adaptation of this pulled off. If it ever happens, I will feature it on this site if the person creating it wishes so.
